Why large sites need a different approach
On a busy logistics site the biggest weakness is usually the gate and the yard. Trailers arriving and leaving, drivers unfamiliar with the site and shift changes all create opportunities for theft by deception, such as a collection that was never booked.
Out-of-hours exposure is the second issue. Empty yards, dark perimeters and stockpiled goods before a peak period make a site attractive. A combination of a visible officer at key hours and patrols at others can make better use of a budget than blanket cover.
Staff also need to feel safe on long shifts, particularly at night. A licensed officer who knows the site and its routines is a point of reassurance as well as a deterrent.
How deployment works
Site walk-through
We discuss layout, gates, shift patterns, vehicle flow and what you most need protected.
Cover plan
We propose static posts, gatehouse cover, patrols or a combination, with clear post orders for each.
Deployment
SIA-licensed, BS 7858 screened officers are briefed on your procedures before their first shift.
Reporting
Daily logs, incident reports and a named contact give you visibility, and we adapt cover for peak periods.
Every officer we deploy holds a valid SIA licence and is screened to BS 7858. You are welcome to check any licence on the SIA public register of licence holders.
Where to put guards on a logistics or industrial site
On most distribution sites the most valuable post is the gate, because everything that leaves has to pass it. A well briefed officer who checks bookings, driver identification and seals can prevent more loss than patrols of an empty yard. Patrols still matter at night and weekends, particularly where trailers, fuel or high-value stock are left outside, so many sites pair a gate post during operating hours with patrols or a night officer afterwards.
Large multi-occupancy industrial estates add another layer: shared perimeters and shared roads mean that your security depends partly on your neighbours. Where several occupiers are willing to coordinate, shared patrol arrangements can be more cost effective than each unit paying for separate cover, and we are happy to discuss that kind of arrangement.

- How will officers verify a driver or collection that is not on the booking list?
- Can your officers work with our CCTV, alarm and yard management systems?
- How do you handle peak-season increases in hours at short notice?

Frequently Asked Questions
Can your officers run a gatehouse and control HGV access?
Yes. Officers can staff a gatehouse, check and log visitors, contractors and vehicles, and follow your procedures for deliveries and collections. We agree post orders with you before the first shift.
Do you provide night and weekend cover for warehouses?
Yes. We operate around the clock and can staff nights, weekends and peak-season shifts. Tell us your operating pattern and we will recommend cover that fits it.
Can you work with our existing CCTV and alarm systems?
Yes. Officers can respond to what your cameras and alarms show and escalate in line with your procedure. We do not replace your systems, we support them.
Do you offer key holding for industrial units?
Where agreed in advance, officers can open and lock sites and attend when an alarm activates. Contact us to confirm availability for your location and hours.
How are officers prepared for a specific site?
Each officer is briefed on your site rules, emergency procedures and reporting lines before starting, and the post orders agreed with you are kept on site for reference.
